Miss Nelson Is Missing

I found this story to be very funny and interesting. Miss Nelson is a school teacher who is kind ,sweet and of course beautiful, but can not control her mischevious classroom. However, when she is suddenly absent, the children begin to realize what a wonderful teacher they had. Her substitute is wicked-looking, strick, Miss Viola Swamp, who works the class non-stop. The children realized that Miss Nelson was not a disciplinarian, which made them want her more. The next day Miss Nelson returned and the children were thrilled with excitement.

Sheila Rae,The Brave

This story is about Sheila Rae who is a little mouse. Sheila was not scared of anything . She was not scared of stray cats or dogs and even when her sister Louise was scared of monster.Sheila was so brave to rod her bike with no hands and walk backwards with her eyes closed.I think the illustration of this story is very interesting because children who like to be brave can learn an important lesson from it as well as those who are scared of monster .

Supergrandpa

I think that this story is very interesting. It is about Gustaf Hakanson who is sixty-six years old. Gustaf looked old, but he did not act old and did not feel old. People always saw him riding his bicycle. One day Gustaf read an interesting article about a bicycle race called "The Tour of Sweden". This tour is more than one thousand miles long which would last many days. His wife, son, grandchildren doubted him, but was determined to enter the race. The judges refused to put him in and ask him to go home to his rocking chair. Gustaf did not give in, but began to prepare for the race the following day. However all young cyclists were prepared, wore numbers, but of course there were no number for Gustaf. So he improvise cut out a red scrap of fabric and number himself number zero. Gustaf was not official but people were cheering and surrounded him by so much kindness. The thought of his many fan had help him to burst through the finish line. I personally think that Gustaf's story is encouraging and enjoyable. It illustrates the importance of being healthy, believing and trying hard in achieving your goals and would be appropreiate for grade K through third.

Dog and Bear

This book presents three easy to read for emergent readers. The first one is about a Bear in the chair who could not get down. On a beautiful day Bear's friend came to invite him to go outside but bear was too scared to come down. His friend Dog encourages him to get down step by step until bear became braver, but forgot his scarf on the chair.
In the second story "Play with me!" Bear's friend dog kept asking him to play but bear kept avoiding him. Bear decide to read a book even though the dog kept inviting him, but bear just needed time alone. As much as the bear tried to explain, the dog did not understand.
The final story is "Dog changes his Name". The dog want to change his name because he think Dog was boring. At the end the Bear suggest that his name could be his best friend Dog.
I think that the stories is very enjoyable and hilarious. It illustrates simple conflicts of a friendship. It could be enjoyed and shared with friend or for independent readers.

Jamaica Tag-along

The story is about a little girl who wants to tag along with her older brother and find herself treating a little boy at the playground like how her brother has treated her.I think that this book would be very good for a read aloud for K through early elementary students. I believe that many children can relate to this book because it illustrate how one learn and change from their own experience.
